For this shoot I have to make sure that I have a lot of objects that have interesting textures so that I can get the necessary images. I am going to search around my house for interesting textured objects that I can hopefully take photos of in an interesting way. I need to make sure that I can get close enough to the subject to warrant it being a close up. I am also hoping that I will have a good enough lens to get the texture that I am looking for.
What I Hope To Achieve
With this shoot I am hoping that I am going to be able to get some nice close up photography, showing texture in a unique way. I have some ideas in mind already about what I am going to actually take photographs of, such as the side of a cheese grater and I have a good idea to take photos of the texture on a tea bag and also on some nuts that I have lying around my house. I am going to keep searching to see what else has interesting textures to take images of. I hope that this shoot will go well and I am working towards getting photographs that are similar to this.
What I Actually Achieved
When it came to actually shooting it went really well. I set up a very basic shooting area so that I could get as close as possible to the subjects, using natural lighting and nothing else. This actually worked a lot better than I expected and I managed to get a lot closer than I first thought. This took me by surprise and I realised that I could get a lot better photographs this way. I also think that I managed to do a lot of experimentations with some objects taking me by surprise by how well they photographed. I am very happy with how this shoot finally turned out. These are two of my favourite photographs from the shoot.
This was one of the first ideas that I had to shoot and I think it turned out exactly how i'd expected. I think that the small holes in the tea bag add to the effect making for a really deep shadow technique. I like the way that the tea bag sort of has a gradient effect on it rather than all being one colour. I also like the way that it has a fading focus creating a short depth of field that I think adds to the overall look of the image. I also like how it is very dark at the front of the image compared to the back.
This was another one of my favourite images due to the way that you can see all of the lines in the nut. I also like the way that it is positioned off centre to add to the overall effect. I also think that the way that the nut is creating a shadow underneath it is really effective because it shows the shape of the nut really well. I also think that the colouring in the image makes the nut look a little like a coffee bean, simply because of the dark brown colour that is really effective.
What I Am Going To Do Next
In regards to this shoot I might create a simple grid format with all of the edits that I have created, just to create a sense of contrast. In regards to my next photo shoot I think that I am going to look at photographing the human form in regards to faces and hands. These two areas are what I think holds to most details. This is something that I would really like to focus on in my next photography shoot.
