8th Shoot - Work Record

Preparation

For this shoot I need to make sure that I have lots of different fruits and vegetables to take photos of, in order to show variety and the different types of texture in the different fruit and vegetables.  I also need to make sure that I have a good set up to take the photographs in, so that you can actually see the detail in everything.  I also need to make sure that I have a good macro feature in order to get good close-up shots.

What I Hope To Achieve

I am hoping that I am going to be able to get some interesting shots that are somewhat unique, allowing the audience to get a good understanding of the textures in the different fruits and vegetables.  I am going to start of the shoot, taking photographs of the outside or skin of all of the subjects.  I think that it would be better to start off with this rather than getting straight into taking photos of the insides of everything.  I am then hoping to get some interesting photos of the insides of the fruits and vegetables that show the detail on the inside, compared to the outside.  I might try to create a contrast between the outside and the inside of everything in this shoot, to expand the variety of the images.  This is the type of thing that I would like to take photographs of.

What I Actually Achieved

I managed to get some interesting photographs of all the different types of fruit and vegetables that I collected.  I particularly liked the mushrooms that I took photos of, along with the image of the lettuce as I think that they look the best compared to the rest of the images.  I experimented with black and white and altering hue and saturation when editing these images, which made a lot of the photographs look a lot more professional and interesting to look at. Here are my favourite 2 images.

This is one of my favourite images due to the depth of field that has been created.  I lowered the saturation so that the brown colour looks as though it is fading out which I think has worked really well.  I also think that the detail that we can see on the image is really interesting because you can see the way that the mushroom is essentially flaking off in a way, revealing the different layers of a mushroom and how you can peel it all back.  This is an aspect that I was hoping I could capture.

This was another one of my favourites due to the harsh shadows that the lettuce leaf has created with all of the different folds.  I also like how the highlights are bright on the top of the image, which emphasises the shadows below it.  This effect emphasises the detail on the lettuce leaf, which is what I was trying to get across from the whole shoot.  This is why this image depicts the overall idea that I was aiming to achieve for this shoot.

What I Am Going To Do Next

In regards to this shoot I am going to look at the different types of edits that I can produce, maybe creating some interesting overlay images.  In regards to my next shoot, I am going to take pictures of signs.  These are going to be both basic signs such as road and traffic signs and also the big signs in london for shops and the lights in Piccadilly Circus.  I think that this would be an interesting close-up idea to look at, due to the brightness and vibrancy of london signs.
