Close - Up Definition

Definition: a photograph or film image taken at close range and showing the subject on a large scale.

Describing Words: detail, textures, closeness, macro, portrait, depth of field

This image is a really good example of all of the describing words for close-up photography.  I like the fact that it is a very short depth of field that I think works really well with this type of photography.  The macro effect that has also been applied to the image, makes everything look a lot more defined and in focus than if a macro effect would not have been used.  THe colours in this image are also very vibrant and bright due to the closeness that the photographer has managed to achieve.  I like how only part of the image is actually fully in focus as it creates a nice contrast to the rest of the image that actually works really well.

I like this image a lot because I think that it really emphasises the colours in the image.  The short depth of field that is being used adds to the pick that is in the main part of the image.  I think that the way that it has been put into all of the emphasis in the image makes the close-up idea in the image a lot more prominent.  I also think that the way that the lighting is rebounding off of the image, highlighting the close up even further.

This image of close-up photography, highlights an area that I am really interested in looking at myself.  The detail in this image is simply remarkable.  The way in which the photographer has managed to capture something that can barely be seen with the naked eye.  I also think that the colours in this image are really interesting as they have clearly been enhanced so that the shadows and highlights are much more prominent.  This is why I really like working with the human eye, simply because it has so many different levels to it that you can capture in macro photography.

I really like the texture in this image, even though you can hardly see the actual texture in the image, there is an element of mystery that I think looks really interesting.  I like the black and white effect that has been used to emphasise the entire image and I also think that the over exposure works well with this type of image.  It highlights the straggly ends of the rope and the shadows emphasise the grooves in the background portion of the photograph that ties the entire image together.

My Own Definition:
being able to photograph any subject, indicating a detail and intuition to the actual subject.
