7th Shoot - Work Record

Preparation

For this shoot I need to make sure that I have booked the studio in order to take the photos.  I also need to make sure that I get the appropriate lighting for the shoot and get Paul to help me with this.  When it comes to photographing people, I am going to photograph myself on a timer and also some of my friends.  I need to make sure that the lighting is harsh enough for the inspiration that I have looked at for this shoot.

What I Hope To Achieve

I am hoping that I am going to be able to get some really interesting shots of mainly faces and hands. I think that this photoshoot is going to work really well and I've especially thought a lot about how I want to lighting to be so that I get good shadows and highlights in order to show the detail in the skin.  I think that I can do this really well with the facilities that I have, I am just choosing to mainly focus on the lighting.  As well as the lighting, I am also going to be thinking about the angle at which the models will be positioning their faces and hands so that I can get a good amount of shadow along with some good highlights.  This is the main photograph that I have used as inspiration for this shoot.

What I Actually Achieved

I managed to get some really interesting shots of both faces and hands and I particularly like the detail in the images as you can see the lines in the hands and all of the features on the face.  Some of the images that I took turned out really well but others were extremely dark due to the positioning of the model being a little out of the harsh lighting.  This made the images a lot darker than they should have been but I still think that they looked effective and the idea was to capture the texture in the skin, which I think I did effectively.  These were two of my favourite shots from the shoot.

This is definitely my favourite photograph from the shoot, of my own hand.  I think that the lighting is exactly how I wanted it to be in this shot, which is why I liked it so much.  I love the shadow on the fingers and on the hands that emphasise the 3 dimensional effect that we know hands have.  I like how you can see the texture of the skin on the hands, which is obviously something that was a main aim for the shoot.  The black background also worked out exactly how I had hoped which I am really happy with as I wasn't completely sure how it would turn out.

This was another one of my favourite shots
as I think that it works really well with the lighting and the overall look of the photo with the detail and the angle of the model.  I like how she is kind of looking at the light rather than directly into it or away from the light so that the light would hit a different part of the face.  The effect of the lighting on this particular image adds to the overall look of it and the general close-up of the face.

What I Am Going To Do Next

I am going to edit more of the images that I got from this shoot because I think that I can do some really interesting things with it.  In regards to another shoot I'm not 100% sure on what i am going to photograph yet, but I may look at fruit and vegetables and the type of texture in foods.  I think that this would be interesting to photograph, capturing the texture on each of them.
